Namesake
A golf course on the Iowa State Campus!
That was the vision of George F. Veenker, former ISU athletic director and football coach and ISU President Raymond Hughes back in the 1930's. Mr. Veenker envisioned, and set in motion, a course to be built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration so that the need for public funds were minimal for the construction of the course. Originally, a Perry Maxwell design, VMGC has since become one of the most talked about, demanding, challenging and fun-to-play golf courses in the Midwest.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Veenker Memorial Golf Course is to provide a championship golf facility for Iowa State students, faculty, staff and friends of the university.
